Sadly Twitter have now closed v1.0 of their API which made this application, and many similar ones, possible.
Neither the demo nor the client itself will work any more.

This is a minimalist Twitter client, entirely contained in a single HTML file. The client uses the Twitter Search API, side-stepping the browser's same origin policy by requesting tweet data in JSONP format.

The client is open source and available on GitHub.
